First Aid for Dogs: Bleeding
First of all muzzle your dog.
It might not be the nicest thing in the world to do but
you do not know what he/she will do in pain.
If it is externally bleeding get a thick gauze pad from
the first aid box and hold over the wound until clotting occurs.
If you think it is internally bleeding blood might be
coming from the mouth,nose rectum,coughing up blood,blood
in the urine and they will have pale gums
The animal may also have a weak pulse and may be collapsing.
If the bleeding is too bad to use a gauze pad you will have
to use a tourniquet between the wound and the heart.
Loosen it every 15-20 minutes for 15-20 seconds to keep the circulation. This may result in amputation of the limb but
at least the animal may have a better chance of surviving .
Contact the vet.
First Aid for Dogs:Fractures
Pad a board with blankets and lay him on it
Restrain him to the board.
If you think the limb is broken wrap it in cotton wool
and again with newspaper or magazines. Use sticks above
and below the joint to secure it. Then secure it with tape again but do not wrap too tightly
If the spine ribs or hip is injured lay him on the board
and immobilise if possible.
Contact the Vet
First Aid for dogs:Burns

Flush the wound with large quantities of water
Severe burn- Apply ice water compressed to the burn and
treat for shock if necessary.
